The Vogelsburg Tour

A qualified local English-speaking guide will take you on a short tour to explore the former castle and monastery with its surroundings.

During your stroll you will discover interesting and noteworthy aspects of the over 1100 years‘ history of the Vogelsburg as a fortress, monastery and destination for visitors.
From our vantage points the Balcony of the Main Loop and the vineyard „Vogelsburger Pforte“ beneath the former monastery walls (not accessible to the general public), you can enjoy the breathtaking view across the Main river valley, taking in some of the most famous wine-growing villages in Franconia.

Your Tour Guide will show you the river meander which forms the Loop of the Main, explaining why for many centuries high-quality wines have been made from the grapes grown here on the steep slopes under favourable climatic conditions.
